The UPD (OS, UPD2, UPD3) family of ligands bind to the DOME:HOP dimer complex. Ligand binding suggests an induced conformational change in the DOME receptor that brings the HOP proteins, bound to the intracellular domains, closer together. The HOP tyrosine kinase is now activated.
