Human vitronectin interacts with C5b:C6:C7 complex preventing it from binding the cell membrane.

Vitronectin transcripts were detected in the brain, liver and spleen of adult chickens. The polypeptide sequence of chicken vitronectin exhibits 57% identity with its human orthologue. Chicken events involving vitronectin have not been verified experimentally but are inferred from properties of the orthologous human proteins.
