LIN28 binds the R2 region of OCT4 (POU5F1) mRNA and increases translation. The POU5F1 (OCT4) mRNA is translated to yield protein. LIN28 bound to the mRNA appears to enhance translation (Qiu et al. 2009, Lei et al. 2012).
