Epidermal fatty acid-binding protein (FABP5) is a cytosolic, lipid-binding protein thought to bind all-trans-retinoic acid (atRA) and mediate its delivery to retinoic acid receptors (RARs) within the nucleus (Hohoff et al. 1999, Smathers & Petersen 2011).
