PLK3 phosphorylates CDC25C at serine residue S191 within the nuclear export signal (NES). Phosphorylation of CDC25C at S191 promotes nuclear localization of CDC25C, probably by masking the NES. Nuclear accumulation of CDC25C may be important for coordination of M phase events (Bahassi et al. 2004).
