HIF1A (HIF1-alpha) and/or EPAS1 (HIF2A), probably in association with other transcription factors, binds hypoxia response elements (HREs) in the promoter region of the PTK6 (BRK) gene (Regan Anderson et al. 2013). EPAS1 was recently found to cooperate with the activated glucocorticoid receptor NR3C1 (GCR) and its cofactor PELP1 in binding to the adjacent hypoxia response and glucocorticoid response PTK6 promoter elements (Regan Anderson et al. 2016).
