Phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase, PI3K, recruited to activated receptor tyrosine kinases such as EGFR (Rodrigues et al. 2000) and MET (Schaeper et al. 2000) via GAB1, catalyzes phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-triphosphate (PIP3) synthesis, triggering downstream signaling by AKT family kinases.
