Alamandine is a decarboxylated form of the heptapeptide AGT(25-31) (Angiotensin-(1-7), amino acid sequence Ala-Arg-Val-Tyr-Ile-His-Pro) that binds the G protein coupled receptor MRGPRD (MrgD) (Lautner et al.2013). The binding of Alamandine to MRGPRD causes cellular release of nitric oxide, a vasodilator (Lautner et al. 2013). Alamandine also interacts with a MAS1:MRGPRD heterodimer (Rukavina Mikusic et al. 2024). MRGPRD interacts with Galpha(i) (Suzuki et al. 2022) and Galpha(q) (Wang et al. 2024). Alamanidine and MRGPRD are components of the counter-regulatory system within the renin-angiotensin system (reviewed in Bader et al. 2024, Proença et al. 2024), however, their physiological roles are not well characterized.
