Runx2 gene expression from proximal (P2) promoter is stimulated by Runx2-P2 and inhibited by DEXA:Nr3c1
Mouse Runx2 gene transcription from the proximal P2 promoter is autoactivated by binding of Runx2-P2 isoform to Runx2 response elements in the P2 promoter (Ducy et al. 1999). Runx2-P2 transcription is inhibited by binding of the glucocorticoid receptor (Nr3c1), activated by dexamethasone (DEXA), to a glucocorticoid receptor response element (GRE) in the Runx2 P2 promoter (Zhang et al. 2012).
