Notch1 gene expression is inhibited by Mecp2
Increased occupancy of the mouse Notch1 gene promoter by mouse Mecp2 correlates with decreased transcription of Notch1. Mecp2 therefore inhibits Notch1 transcription. Increased occupancy of the Notch1 promoter by Mecp2 also results in decreased expression of Notch targets Hes3 and Hes5 (Li et al. 2014)
