In the mouse liver, Foxo1 and Ppargc1a (Pgc-1alpha) directly stimulate transcription of the Pck1 gene, encoding a gluconeogenesis enzyme Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (Puigserver et al. 2003).
