Eif2ak4 dimer autophosphorylates
After binding uncharged tRNA, the Eif2ak4 (Gcn2) dimer trans-autophosphorylates on threonine-898, resulting in activation of the kinase domain of Eif2ak4 (Harding et al. 2000, Deng et al. 2002, Cambiaghi et al. 2014, and inferred from yeast homologs).
