TIM9:TIM10 binds hydrophobic proteins
The TIM9:TIM10 complex chaperones hydrophobic membrane proteins in the intermembrane space until their insertion into the inner or outer membrane (Koehler et al. 1998, Leuenberger et al. 1999, Luciano et al. 2001, Truscott et al. 2002, Vasiljev et al. 2004, Wiedemann et al. 2004, Davis et al. 2007, Baker et al. 2009, Hasson et al. 2010). Substrates of the TIM9:TIM10 complex include AAC (Koehler et al. 1998, Leuenberger et al. 1999, Luciano et al. 2001, Truscott et al. 2002, Vasiljev et al. 2004, Baker et al. 2009, Hasson et al. 2010), TIM17 (Leuenberger et al. 1999), TOM40 (Wiedemann et al. 2004), TIM23 (Davis et al. 2007), TIM22 (Hasson et al. 2010), and Tafazzin (Hasson et al. 2010).
