MHHB is decarboxylated to HMPhOH by MHHB decarboxylase
3-hexaprenyl-4-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzoic acid aka 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-5-hexaprenylbenzoic acid (MHHB) is enzymatically decarboxylated to form 2-hexaprenyl-6-methoxyphenol (HMPhOH) (Casey & Threlfall 1978, Goewert et al. 1981). At the present time the enzyme identity is unknown but is thought to be a member of the COQ family.
