Sag binds p-MII to form p-MII:Sag
Although phosphorylation of activated rhodopsin (MII) reduces its activity towards transducin, complete deactivation only occurs after S-arrestin (SAG) binds to and caps MII. The human event is based on experiments performed in cattle (and in mice) (Kuhn & Wilden 1987, Wilden et al. 1986).
