Cubitus Interruptus (CI) that is spared from proteolysis is liberated from the repressive effects of its direct binding partner, Supressor of Fused (SU(FU)), by Fused (FU) Ser/Thr kinase activity. FU is believed to phosphorylate SU(FU) but it is not known if this relieves repression.
