An as-yet-uncharacterised protein has been demonstrated to possess retinyl ester hydrolase (REH) activity in chicken retina to hydrolyse 11-cis-retinyl palmitate (11cRPALM) to 11-cis-retinol (11cROL) (Bustamante et al. 1995).
