Cytosolic GAPDH catalyzes the reversible reaction of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, NAD+, and phosphate to form 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate and NADH + H+. The active form of the enzyme is a homotetramer (Allison and Kaplan 1964; Dugaiczyk et al. 1983).
