MEK-ERK pathways are considered to be highly conserved. Their involvement in up-regulation of the inflammatory response has been demonstrated in mammals and chicken (Johnson GL and Lapadat R 2002; Kogut M et al 2008).

In this model we assume that chicken MEK-ERK mediators behave like their human counterparts.
