The cubilin protein:amnionless (CUBN:AMN) complex mediates the endocytosis of gastric internal factor complexes with cobalamins (CBLIF:RCbl) into coated vesicles of mucosal cells of the distal ileum. There, the CBLIF:RCbl complex dissociates from CUBN:AMN, which returns to the plasma membrane while CBLIF:RCbl is delivered to lysosomes (Fyfe et al. 2004).
