TP53 (p53) and CREBBP (CBP) bound to the BNIP3L gene stimulate expression of the BNIP3L. BNIP3L is an outer mitochondrial membrane protein that belongs to the BCL2 family and promotes apoptosis of cells under hypoxic stress (Fei et al. 2004).
