The human gene SLCO3A1 encodes the organic anion transporting polypeptide D. Several variants are expressed but isoform 1 is ubiquitous and can transport a range of substrates including the prostaglandins E1 and E2, thyroxine and vasopressin (AVP) (Huber RD et al, 2007).
