HIF1A gene expression downstream of ALK signaling is stimulated by binding of phosphorylated STAT3 to the promoter. HIF1A expression contributes to cell growth by supporting angiogenesis and survival under hypoxic conditions (Marzec et al, 2011; Martinengo et al, 2014; reviewed in Werner et al, 2017).
