CTNNB1-dependent expression of the G1/S cyclin CCND1 is repressed in melanoma cells by the repressor protein HINT1 and co-repressors HDAC1 and SIN3A. HINT1 co-immunoprecipitates with CTNNB1 in melanoma cells and is localized to the CCND1 promoter in vivo as assessed by ChIP. HINT1 interacts with SIN3A and HDAC1, and increased expression of HINT1 decreases cell proliferation and tumorigenicity of melanoma cells (Genovese et al, 2013).
