Sarcoglycan beta (SGCB) and sarcoglycan delta (SGCD) bind in the endoplasmic reticulum to initiate formation of the sarcoglycan complex component of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC) (Noguchi et al, 2000, Shi et al, 2004; Chan et al, 1998; Vainzof et al, 1996; reviewed in Taracki and Berger, 2016).
