HNF6 transactivates Onecut3 during early pancreas specification
Studies in Hnf6/Onecut1 knock-out embryos showed that HNF6 is required for expression of the Onecut3 gene in the mouse endoderm, and that both protein products, HNF6/ONECUT1 and ONECUT3 co-localize in the endoderm and in embryonic pancreas (Pierreux et al. 2004). The same authors demonstrated through transfection, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and whole embryo electroporation experiments, that HNF6/ONECUT1 binds to and stimulates the expression of Onecut3.
