Although there is no direct evidence for CysE catalyzing the acetylation of serine, it has 58% identity with the serine acetyltransferase of Corynebacterium glutamicum and is upregulated in stress conditions (Haitani et al, 2006; Schnell et al, 2007; Mehra and Kaushal, 2009).
