SMURF1 ubiquitinates Smad7 and phosphorylated TGFBR1
When recombinant mouse Smad7 and recombinant human SMURF1, TGFBR1 and TGFBR2 are exogenously expressed in COS1 cells, SMURF1 (recruited to the activated TGF-beta receptor complex through interaction with Smad7) ubiquitinates both Smad7 and TGFBR1 (Ebisawa et al. 2001).
