sFrp binds Wnt3a and inhibits WNT-FZD binding
Mouse Wnt3a binds directly with nanomolar affinities to four sFRPs that were tested (mouse sFRP2 and 3 and human sFRP1 and 4), as assessed by surface plasmon resonance. Despite this, only sFRP1 and 2 were able to inhibit Wnt3a signaling in mouse L cells. sFRP2 was also shown to inhibit Wnt3a dependent mesoderm formation in mouse ES cells (Wawrzak et al, 2007).
