Recombinant human KMT2A histone methyltransferase, in the presence of recombinant human RUNX1 and endogenous mouse Cbfb, trimethylates histone H3 subunit of nucleosomes associated with the Spi1 (PU.1) gene promoter and upstream regulatory element, producing the H3K4Me3 mark (Huang et al. 2011).
