Gnb1:GNG2:PLCB2:Ca2+ hydrolyzes PI(4,5)P2 to I(1,4,5)P3 and DAG
The binding of the gustducin beta-gamma complex (Gnb1,3:GNG13) to Phospholipase beta-2 (PLCB2) activates its catalytic activity, resulting in hydrolysis of phosphoinositol 4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) to yield diacylglycerol and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (I(1,4,5)P3) (Romoser et al. 1996, Sankaran et al. 1998, Fogg et al. 2001, Yoshikawa et al. 2001, Bonacci et al. 2005).
