Egr2 and Sox10 bind Mbp1 gene

As assesssed by ChIP from S16 cells, Egr2 binds to cognate sites in the enhancer and first intron of the Mbp gene (Jang et al, 2006). By conservation of sites, Sox10 is predicted to potentiate Egr2-dependent expression of Mbp, as it does for other myelination proteins, and ChIP-seq analsys and Sox10 knockdown in mouse supports this prediction (Jones et al, 2007; Lopez-Arido et al, 2015)
