In the presence of recombinant rat calmodulin, recombinant rat Camkk1 (CaMKK-alpha) phosphorylates recombinant rat Camk4 (CaMKIV) on conserved threonine residue T196, which corresponds to T200 of human CAMK4 (Tokumitsu et al. 2004).
